Rayanne Clendenning spent all six innings played on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned (and three unearned) runs on three hits. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than one earned run in three consecutive appearances.
At the plate, Iola-Scandinavia got a massive performance out of Braelyn Jueds, who scored two runs while getting on base in all five of her plate appearances. Brylee Jueds was another key player, scoring a run while going 3-for-5.
Iola-Scandinavia always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .545. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Pittsville only posted an OBP of .269.
Meanwhile, Wittenberg-Birnamwood got themselves on the board against Weyauwega-Fremont on Tuesday, but Weyauwega-Fremont never followed suit. They put the hurt on the Warhawks with a sharp 20-0 win. The game was the first time the Chargers have beaten the Warhawks on their field since May 14, 2021.
Wittenberg-Birnamwood let Rory Salvesen and Sophia Lemieux run wild. Salvesen scored three runs and stole a base while going 4-for-5, while Lemieux went 2-for-3 with three runs, four RBI, and two doubles. Another player making a difference was Jayda Moenke, who scored three runs while going 3-for-4.
Iola-Scandinavia's victory bumped their record up to 5-2. As for Wittenberg-Birnamwood, their win was their first in the conference, bumping their conference record up to 1-2 and their overall record up to 6-4.
Thursday's match will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Iola-Scandinavia hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .357. However, it's not like Wittenberg-Birnamwood struggles in that department as they've averaged .352.
