Baseball Recap: Tenino Has No Trouble Against Hoquiam

After only two runs in their last match, Tenino made sure to put some runs up on the board against Hoquiam on Tuesday. The Beavers blew past the Grizzlies 15-2. The result was nothing new for the Beavers, who have now won eight games by six runs or more so far this season.

Mikey Vassar made a big impact while hitting and pitching. He tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits. The dominant performance also gave him a new career-high in strikeouts (three). He was even better at the plate, going 3-for-4 with two stolen bases, five RBI, and one run. He is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as he's now snagged at least one in each of the last three games he's played.

In other pitching news, Zeke Haskins looked comfortable as he pitched three innings while giving up no earned runs off four hits. He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up a single earned run in three consecutive appearances.

Back at the plate, Will Feltus was incredible, going 3-for-4 with four RBI, two runs, and one triple. Those four RBI gave him a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Austin Gonia, who went 1-for-4 with two runs, one triple, and one RBI.

Tenino was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .429. That's the best batting average they've posted all season.

Tenino's record is now 14-4. As for Hoquiam, their loss was their ninth straight at home dating back to last season, which dropped their record down to 2-9.

Looking ahead, Tenino will square off against North Thurston at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday. As for Hoquiam, they will face off against Montesano at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday. The Bulldogs' pitching crew has only allowed 3.4 runs per game this season, so the Grizzlies' hitters will have their work cut out for them.
