Coventry is 7-1 against Hope since February of 2015, and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Friday. The Coventry Oakers will head out on the road to face off against the Hope Blue Wave at 7:00 p.m. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Coventry has five straight wins, Hope has eight straight losses), but none of that matters once you're on the field.
Coventry posted their biggest win yet this season on Wednesday. They blew past Tiverton 59-36.
It was another big night for Logan Voelker, who dropped a double-double on 17 points and 12 rebounds. Voelker is absolutely dominating the rebound category: he's posted at least eight every time he's taken the court this season. Tyler Broady was another key contributor, scoring 11 points along with eight rebounds.
Hope lost a heartbreaker when they last took the court, but unfortunately for them the loss they were handed on on Wednesday was a bit more commanding. They were outmatched by South Kingstown on the road and fell 78-48. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest loss Hope has suffered against South Kingstown since January 17, 2019.
Coventry pushed their record up to 7-5 with that win, which was their fourth straight at home. Those victories were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 65.3 points per game. As for Hope, their defeat dropped their record down to 1-12.
Coventry beat Hope 52-44 in their previous meeting back in February of 2023. The rematch might be a little tougher for Coventry since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
