The Aquin Catholic Bulldogs on the road again on Thursday and play against the Pecatonica Indians at 6:00 p.m. on January 25th. Hopefully Aquin Catholic focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 16 on Friday.
Last Friday, Aquin Catholic was within striking distance but couldn't close the gap as they fell 58-54 to Orangeville. While losing is never fun, Aquin Catholic can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Illinois basketball rankings (they are ranked 125th, while Orangeville is ranked 49th).
Despite the loss, Aquin Catholic got a solid performance out of Paityn London, who scored 29 points along with eight rebounds and five assists. As a matter of fact, that's the most points London has scored all season. The team also got some help courtesy of Megan Holder, who scored four points along with seven rebounds and three steals.
In what's become a running theme this season, Pecatonica gave their fans yet another huge win on Monday. They blew past Durand 51-18 on the road. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest win Pecatonica has posted since December 26, 2023.
Aquin Catholic's loss ended a six-game streak of away wins and brought them to 15-5. As for Pecatonica, their win bumped their record up to 21-4.
Aquin Catholic strolled past Pecatonica when the teams last played on January 3rd by a score of 58-40. The rematch might be a little tougher for Aquin Catholic since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
