The Ygnacio Valley Wolves won against the Miramonte Matadors last Wednesday with 70 points and they decided to stick to that point total again on Friday. Ygnacio Valley came out on top against the Matadors by a score of 70-58. Given Ygnacio Valley's advantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 111th, while the Matadors are ranked 239th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Ygnacio Valley got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Loyal Morris out in front who dropped a double-double on 20 points and 12 rebounds. Antonio Kellogg Jr was another key contributor, scoring 13 points along with six assists and five rebounds.
When it comes to explaining why Miramonte lost, one person who can't be blamed is Marcus Robinson. Despite the final result, he scored 25 points. Robinson hasn't dropped below 21 points for three straight games. Another player making a difference was Chris Kaufhold, who scored eight points along with ten rebounds and six assists.
Ygnacio Valley is on a roll lately: they've won ten of their last 11 matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 20-6 record this season. As for Miramonte, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 16-10.
Ygnacio Valley does not have any more games scheduled as of now. Miramonte will head out on the road to take on the Bulldogs at 7:00 p.m. on Monday.
