The Peru Tigers will head out on the road to challenge the Logansport Berries at 5:00 p.m. on Friday. Peru has given up an average of 7.3 runs per game this season, but Friday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.
Peru blew Lewis Cass out of the water the last time the pair played, but on Wednesday Lewis Cass got their revenge. The Tigers fell just short of the Kings by a score of 11-9.
Bryce Hill and Lucas Musser stepped up to the plate in a big way. Hill went 2-for-4 with three RBI and two runs, while Musser went 3-for-5 with two RBI, one run, and one double. William Rodriguez also deserves some recognition as he got his first hits of the season.
Meanwhile, there's no place like home for Logansport, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Tuesday. They put the hurt on Western with a sharp 15-1 victory on Wednesday. The game marked the Berries' most dominant win of the season so far.
Carson Dubes looked comfortable as he didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits over four innings pitched. He also tossed no earned runs, which is notable because Logansport is undefeated when he allows at most one earned run, but 3-4 otherwise.
On the hitting side, Camden Chapman was a standout: he went 2-for-4 with two runs, one triple, and two RBI. Those two runs gave him a new career-high. Deagan Kitchel was another key player, going 2-for-3 with two runs and two RBI.
Logansport always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .516. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Western only posted an OBP of .364.
Peru's loss dropped their record down to 2-4. As for Logansport, their record is now 6-4.
Peru skirted past Logansport 3-2 when the teams last played back in April of 2024. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Tigers since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
