The Koliganek Huskies lost against the Manokotak Lynx on Friday, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Saturday. Koliganek suffered a tough 53-32 loss at the hands of the Lynx. While losing is never fun, Koliganek can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Alaska basketball rankings (they are ranked 81st, while the Lynx are ranked 19th).
When it comes to explaining why Koliganek lost, one person who can't be blamed is Sarah Chase. Despite the final result, she scored 13 points.
Manokotak had a senior duo take command as Jesslynn Logusak scored 21 points and Kelisha Gloko scored 18 points. It was the first time this season that Logusak scored 15 or more points. The team also got some help courtesy of Vicki Paul, who scored seven points.
This is the second loss in a row for Koliganek and nudges their season record down to 0-2. As for Manokotak, their win was their fifth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 6-2.
Koliganek and the Lynx will face off at 3:00 p.m. on January 24th without much rest after finishing up games yesterday. Tanalian is coming into the match on a three-game losing streak. Manokotak does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
