The Sunset Apollos will challenge the Southridge Skyhawks at 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, these teams will really light up the scoreboard.
As a matter of fact, Sunset put up the most runs they have all season on Monday. They were the clear victors by a 21-1 margin over Aloha. The result was nothing new for the Apollos, who have now won 15 games by six runs or more so far this season.

Sydney Arnold was a major factor while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she tossed three innings while giving up no earned runs off three hits. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two walks in 16 consecutive appearances. She was even better at the plate, going 3-for-4 with one home run, six RBI, and one double. Those six RBI gave her a new career-high.
In other batting news, Claire Townsend was a standout: she went a perfect 5-for-5 with five runs, five RBI, and two doubles. Those five runs gave her a new career-high. Shelby Townsend was another key player, getting on base in all five of her plate appearances with four runs, two doubles, and one stolen base.
Sunset was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .543. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .379 or higher in three consecutive matchups.
Meanwhile, Southridge came into Monday's contest having lost 12 straight, but that streak is now in the rearview. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 13-11 victory over Beaverton on Monday. The high-scoring performance was a welcome turnaround for the Skyhawks' hitters, who had struggled in the games prior.
Sunset's win bumped their record up to 15-7. As for Southridge, their victory was their first in the league, bumping their league record up to 1-5 and their overall record up to 5-14-1.
Sunset got the 'W' in their previous meeting back in April against Southridge by a conclusive 11-0 score. Will the Apollos repeat their success, or do the Skyhawks have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
