It was a good run, but the Casteel Colts unfortunately witnessed the end of their four-game winning streak on Friday. They were the victim of a rough 41-19 loss at the hands of Williams Field. The result shouldn't come as a shock considering that's the fewest points Casteel has scored all season.
Casteel's loss came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Ava Lewis, who scored five points along with nine rebounds and three steals. Another player making a difference was Keeli Duncan, who scored four points along with nine rebounds and two steals.
Perhaps unsurprisingly given the score, Casteel struggled to work together and finished the game with only two assists. They were crushed by their opponents in that department as Williams Field racked up 12 assists.
Williams Field's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Latoya Brooks led the charge by dropping a double-double on 16 points and 12 rebounds. Brooks continues to roll, besting her previous point total in each of the last four games she's played. Sienna Lynch was another key contributor, scoring nine points along with six rebounds and four steals.
Casteel's loss ended a three-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 12-7. As for Williams Field, they are on a roll lately: they've won ten of their last 12 matches, which provided a nice bump to their 11-6 record this season.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Casteel will take on Mountain Pointe at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Mountain Pointe is hoping to put an end to a five-game streak of away losses. As for Williams Field, Williams Field and Casa Grande will face off at 6:00 p.m. on January 16th without much rest after finishing up games yesterday. Casa Grande has now lost seven straight, and the team is hunting for their first win since December 14.
