The Jackson-Milton Bluejays will head out on the road to face off against the Badger Braves at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Jackson-Milton will be looking to extend their current four-game winning streak.
On Monday, Jackson-Milton beat Ursuline 8-4.
Katie Byers spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered just two earned (and two unearned) runs on six hits.
On the hitting side, Emma Johns was excellent, scoring two runs and stealing two bases while going 1-for-3. Ivy McBeth was another key player, scoring two runs and stealing two bases while getting on base in two of her four plate appearances.
Meanwhile, Badger had to endure a four-game losing streak, but that streak is no more. They came out on top against Harding on Monday by a score of 10-4 (the very same score they lost by in their prior game). With that victory, the Braves brought their scoring average up to 6.2 runs per game.
Badger let Kiyah Scharfenberg and Madison Lindus run wild. Scharfenberg scored two runs while going 1-for-3, while Lindus scored two runs and stole a base while going 2-for-4. Scharfenberg also hit a double, marking her first of the season.
Jackson-Milton pushed their record up to 7-1 with the win, which was their fifth straight at home. The home victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 15.4 runs over those games. As for Badger, their record now sits at 2-4.
Badger's pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: Jackson-Milton has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .541. It's a different story for Badger, though, as they've only averaged .335. Will they be able to contain Jackson-Milton's hitters?
Jackson-Milton took their win against Badger in their previous meeting back in May of 2023 by a conclusive 13-3 score. Do the Bluejays have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Braves turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
