The Brooks Lions will head out on the road to face off against the Deshler Tigers at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Brooks will be looking to extend their current five-game winning streak.
Brooks put the finishing touches on their third blowout victory of the season on Friday. They took their game on the road with ease, bagging a 63-28 victory over Wilson. Given Brooks' advantage in MaxPreps' Alabama football rankings (they are ranked 139th, while Wilson is ranked 334th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Garrett Burrough was his usual excellent self, rushing for 125 yards and two touchdowns on only seven carries. Burrough hasn't dropped below 100 rushing yards for five straight games. Omar Joyner was another major influence, as he rushed for 37 yards and ran in a TD.
Deshler fell on hard times earlier this season, but after back-to-back wins it seems like their luck might finally be changing. They came out on top against Rogers by a score of 28-19 on Friday.
Brooks' victory was their third straight on the road, which bumped their overall record up to 6-2. They've been dominating during the games in that stretch too, as they've won by an average of 21.33 points. As for Deshler, their victory bumped their record up to 6-3.
Things could have been worse for Brooks, but things could have been a whole lot better as they took a 48-32 loss to Deshler in their previous matchup back in October of 2022. Can Brooks avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
