The Mary Persons Bulldogs will be playing in front of their home fans against the Jackson Red Devils at 5:00 p.m. on Saturday. Both teams took a loss in their last game, so they'll have plenty of motivation to get the 'W'.
Mary Persons pushed their score all the way to 55 on Tuesday, but even that wasn't enough to win. They took a 67-55 hit to the loss column at the hands of Upson-Lee. Mary Persons has struggled against Upson-Lee recently, as their contest on Tuesday was their fifth consecutive lost matchup.
The loss doesn't tell the whole story though, as several players had good games. One of the most active was Nemo Jones, who dropped a double-double on 20 points and 12 rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Jayden Odoms, who scored 12 points along with seven rebounds.
Meanwhile, while it was all tied up 22-22 at halftime, Jackson was not quite Upson-Lee's equal in the second half on Wednesday. Jackson fell 52-40 to Upson-Lee.
Like Jackson, they lost despite seeing results from several players. Kevan Gray led the charge by scoring ten points. Josh Goodrum was another key contributor, scoring nine points along with two steals.
Mary Persons has been struggling recently, as they've lost 11 of their last 12 contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 4-15 record this season. As for Jackson, their defeat dropped their record down to 2-14.
Saturday's matchup is shaping up to be a scrappy contest: Mary Persons have been smashing the glass this season, having only averaged 31.1 rebounds per game. It's a different story for Jackson, though, as they've been averaging only 26.7 rebounds per game. Given Mary Persons' sizeable advantage in that area, Jackson will need to find a way to close that gap.
