It was a good run, but the Kongiganak Wolverines unfortunately witnessed the end of their five-game winning streak dating back to last season on Friday. They took a 55-40 bruising from Lewis Angapak. Kongiganak was given a dose of their own medicine in this game as Lewis Angapak apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in February.
Kongiganak's loss came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Gracelyn Miller, who scored 18 points. Another player making a difference was Mariah Tinker, who scored 13 points.
Kongiganak's defeat ended a five-game streak of away wins dating back to last season and brought them to 1-1. As for Lewis Angapak, the victory makes it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 2-0.
Kongiganak will head out on the road to face off against Kwigillingok at 9:00 a.m. on Saturday. Lewis Angapak will be home for the holidays to greet Anna Tobeluk at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday.
