The Scotland Fighting Scots will head out on the road to face off against the Pinecrest Patriots at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Scotland is looking to tack on another W to their five-game streak on the road.
Last Friday, Scotland didn't have too much breathing room in their match against Union Pines, but they still walked away with a 47-41 win. Given Scotland's advantage in MaxPreps' North Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked 112th, while Union Pines is ranked 283rd), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
It was another big night for Alicia McClain, who dropped a double-double on 25 points and 12 rebounds. McClain is crushing the steal category: she's posted at least two every time she's taken the court this season. The team also got some help courtesy of Morgan Thompson, who scored ten points along with six assists and four steals.
Meanwhile, Pinecrest lost to Lee County on the road by a decisive 61-46 margin on Tuesday.
Scotland has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won 13 of their last 14 contests, which provided a nice bump to their 17-2 record this season. As for Pinecrest, their defeat dropped their record down to 6-13.
Scotland strolled past Pinecrest when the teams last played back in January by a score of 57-43. The rematch might be a little tougher for Scotland since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
