Basketball Recap: Wayne County's Win on Friday Extends Winning Streak to Three

Wayne County won against Appling County last Tuesday with 70 points and they decided to stick to that point total again on Friday. The Wayne County Yellow Jackets were the clear victor by a 70-46 margin over the Pierce County Bears. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest win the Yellow Jackets have posted against the Bears since December 1, 2020.

Wayne County found their leader in sophomore Harold Dasher, who made all 5 shots he took racking up 13 points and six rebounds. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Dasher has scored all season. Gavin Hilton was another key player, putting up 13 points.

Wayne County smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 13 offensive rebounds. That's the most offensive boards they've managed all season.

The victory was the third in a row for Wayne County, bringing their record for this year to 3-4. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 62.3 points per game. As for Pierce County, their defeat was their fifth straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 1-5.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Wayne County will venture away from home to take on Brantley County at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Brantley County knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with 55 points or more in their past seven games -- so hopefully Wayne County likes a good challenge. As for Pierce County, they are taking a road trip to square off against Clinch County at 7:30 p.m. on Monday. Clinch County will roll in looking for their fourth straight win, something Pierce County surely won't give up without a fight.
