The North Putnam Cougars can finally bid farewell to their three-game losing streak thanks to their game on Thursday. They had just enough and edged Owen Valley out 52-49. That result was just more of the same for these two, as North Putnam also won the last time the pair played back in January of 2023.
Leading North Putnam to victory were Lexi Daigle and Rose Haste. Daigle scored 13 points along with two steals and two blocks, while Haste almost dropped a double-double on 16 points and nine rebounds. Haste also posted two blocks for the first time this season.
Despite the loss, Owen Valley still got an impressive performance from Taylor York, who dropped a double-double on 19 points and 11 rebounds. It was the first time this season that York scored 15 or more points. The team also got some help courtesy of Mallory Owen, who scored ten points along with seven rebounds.
North Putnam's win bumped their record up to 9-13. As for Owen Valley, they have not been sharp recently as the team's lost 15 of their last 17 contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 6-18 record this season.
North Putnam will be staying on the road on Tuesday to face off against the Tiger Cubs at 6:00 p.m. on January 30th. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are closely ranked in Indiana (Greencastle is ranked 305th, while the Cougars are ranked 307th). As for Owen Valley, they will take on the Mustangs at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Hopefully Edgewood focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up nine on Tuesday.
