The Statesville Christian Lions's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Thursday after their third straight loss. They were the victim of a tough 53-27 defeat at the hands of North Hills Christian. Statesville Christian lost against North Hills Christian in their previous head to head back in November of 2022, too, but the margin this time around was much wider than the 29-26 score last time.
North Hills Christian can attribute much of their success to Ava Kibler, who dropped a double-double on 25 points and 17 rebounds. That makes it seven consecutive games in which Kibler has scored at least 25% of North Hills Christian's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Sam Oxendine, who scored 13 points.
Statesville Christian's defeat dropped their record down to 1-3. As for North Hills Christian, their win was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 2-5.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Statesville Christian will take on Oak Ridge Military Academy at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday. As for North Hills Christian, they will head out on the road to face off against Carolina Christian at 5:00 p.m. on Friday. Carolina Christian comes in on a streak of failing to score more than 17 points in their last three games, a trend the team is of course eager to reverse.
