Ethan Shaffer and Carter Comstock were major factors no matter where they played. Throwing, Shaffer struck out six batters over two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. Meanwhile, Comstock struck out nine batters over four innings while giving up just two earned runs off two hits. With that strong performance, he is now averaging an impressive 5.2 strikeouts per game. At the plate, Shaffer got on base in five of his six plate appearances with four runs, two stolen bases, and two RBI, while Comstock went 3-for-5 with two runs, one stolen base, and two RBI. Shaffer is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as he's now snagged at least one in each of the last three games he's played.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Jeremiah Bassler, who went 4-for-5 with one home run, three stolen bases, and five RBI. He also hit two doubles, marking his first of the season. Andreas Nicolaides was another key player, getting on base in all four of his plate appearances with five stolen bases and four runs.
Carroll Christian always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .660. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their OBP total in three consecutive matches.
