It may have taken eight innings to finish the job, but Sunset ultimately got the result they hoped for on Thursday. They narrowly escaped with a win as the team sidled past the McNary Celtics 3-2. The victory was nothing new for the Apollos as they're now sitting on three straight.
Sydney Arnold was a major factor no matter where she played. On the mound, she struck out seven batters over eight innings while giving up just two earned runs off six hits (and not a single walk). She has been consistent for a while: she hasn't given up more than two walks in 12 consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going 2-for-3 with one run and one double.
In other batting news, Jordan Pe?a was excellent, going 1-for-3 with one home run and two RBI. Kaia McKenna was another key player, going 1-for-3 with one home run.
Sunset hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their strikeout total in three consecutive matchups.
