One reason for the win was North Edgecombe's imposing defense, which managed to get into the backfield for six sacks. The heavy lifting was done by Powell and Avione Vaught, who racked up 5.5 sacks between them. Park got in on the action too, converting a pick into a touchdown.
Bear Grass Charter's win bumped their record up to 8-0. As for North Edgecombe, their victory bumped their record up to 2-9.
Friday's contest might be decided in the trenches. Bear Grass Charter has been unstoppable on the ground this season, having averaged 299.2 rushing yards per game.
