Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Westfield Area). Their pitcher stepped up to hand Mauston a 28-0 shutout on Tuesday. The Pioneers might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won four matches by eight runs or more this season.
Like Adams-Friendship, Westfield Area also got a great game from a two-way player: Natalee Meinke. On the mound, she pitched three innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. Meinke was also solid in the batter's box, getting on base in three of her five plate appearances with three runs.
In other batting news, Saydee Kohnke was a standout: she got on base in all five of her plate appearances with five runs, two stolen bases, and one RBI. Those five runs gave her a new career-high. Thursday's game might come down to which pitcher can control the ball better. Adams-Friendship has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .467. However, it's not like Westfield Area struggles in that department as they've averaged .484. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Adams-Friendship came up short against Westfield Area when the teams last played back in May of 2024, falling 9-5. Can the Green Devils avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
