Granby has been on the road for five straight, but on Friday they'll finally head home. They will take on The Maury Commodores at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.
Last Friday, Granby made easy work of Manor and carried off a 30-8 win. Given Granby's advantage in MaxPreps' Virginia football rankings (they are ranked 86th, while Manor is ranked 237th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Granby got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Drevyon Tharrington out in front who rushed for 72 yards and two touchdowns. Shaineek Wright was another key contributor, gaining 90 total yards and a touchdown.
Meanwhile, Maury put another one in the bag on Friday to keep their perfect season alive. They simply couldn't be stopped as they easily beat Churchland 81-0 at home. The game was all but wrapped up at the end of the third, by which point Maury had established a 55 point advantage.
Granby is on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five contests, which provided a nice bump to their 7-2 record this season. As for Maury, their victory was their eighth straight at home (dating back to last season), bumping their overall record up to 9-0.
Granby took a serious blow against Maury in their previous meeting back in September of 2022, falling 66-0. Will Granby have more luck at home instead of on the road?
