Even though the Regis Groff Fusion scored an imposing 64 points on Friday, the Thomas Jefferson Spartans still came out on top. Everything went Thomas Jefferson's way against Regis Groff as Thomas Jefferson made off with a 87-64 victory. The matchup was pretty much decided by the half, when the score had already reached 48-24.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Thomas Jefferson to victory, but perhaps none more so than William Perkins, who scored 26 points along with four steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Shane Curry, who scored 24 points.
Despite the loss, Regis Groff still got an impressive performance from Mahmoud Ibrahim, who scored 31 points along with eight rebounds and three blocks. Jamal Bailly was another key contributor, scoring 15 points.
Thomas Jefferson has been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four matches, which provided a nice bump to their 11-8 record this season. As for Regis Groff, they dropped their record down to 4-13 with that defeat, which was their fourth straight at home.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Thomas Jefferson will take on Denver West at 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Thomas Jefferson knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with flashy point totals in its past six matches -- so hopefully Denver West likes a good challenge. As for Regis Groff, they have the luxury of staying home another game and will welcome Vista PEAK Prep at 7:30 p.m. on February 6th. Regis Groff will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Colorado Rankings (they are ranked 270th, while Vista PEAK Prep is ranked 21st).
