University Lab has gone a perfect 4-0 against Port Allen recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Thursday. The University Lab Cubs will look to defend their home field against the Port Allen Pelicans at 4:00 p.m. University Lab is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 11.1 runs per game this season.
University Lab took a loss when they played away from home on Monday, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Tuesday. They put the hurt on Madison Prep Academy with a sharp 12-1 win. The victory continues a trend for the Cubs in their matchups with Madison Prep Academy: they've now won six in a row.
Gabby Fontenot made a splash no matter where she played. She didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit while striking out ten over five innings pitched. Fontenot was also stellar in the batter's box, going a perfect 3-for-3 with one home run and four RBI. That's the most RBI she has posted since back in April of 2024.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on London Harvey, who scored three runs and stole Two bases. while going 3-for-3. The dominant performance also gave her a new career-high in doubles (two). Another player making a difference was Charlotte Lowe, who went 1-for-2 with two runs, one triple, and one RBI.
University Lab always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .552. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Madison Prep Academy only posted an OBP of .211.
Meanwhile, Port Allen fell victim to Parkview Baptist and their airtight pitching crew on Tuesday. They came up short against the Eagles, falling 22-0. The Pelicans haven't had much luck with the Eagles recently, as the team has come up short the last five times they've met.
Port Allen's defeat dropped their record down to 3-5. As for University Lab, they now have a winning record of 7-6.
Thursday's match might come down to which pitcher can control the ball better. University Lab has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .547. However, it's not like Port Allen struggles in that department as they've averaged .650. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
University Lab took their win against Port Allen in their previous meeting back in March of 2024 by a conclusive 17-0. Will University Lab repeat their success, or does Port Allen have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
