Softball Recap: Interlake Snags Fourth Win in Last Five Games

After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Newport - Bellevue, Interlake was happy to have turned things around on Wednesday. They came out on top against the Bellevue Wolverines by a score of 8-5. That's more bragging rights for the Saints, who also won the pair's last head-to-head.

Albany Aponte (2027) made a splash no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, keeping things locked down with no earned runs or hits while striking out ten over 5.1 innings pitched. Aponte (2027) was also stellar in the batter's box, getting on base in all four of her plate appearances with one home run, two runs, and one triple.

In other batting news, Lizzy Thompsen (2026) was excellent, getting on base in all four of her plate appearances with three stolen bases and two runs. That's the most stolen bases she has posted since back in April of 2025. Another player making a difference was Madeline Knight (2028), who went 2-for-4 with three RBI, one triple, and one run.

Interlake always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .514. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Bellevue only posted an OBP of .226.

Interlake is on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 6-2 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 11.4 runs over those games. Having lost for the first time this season, Bellevue fell to 6-1.

Coming up, Interlake will host Liberty at 4:30 p.m. on Friday. The Patriots' pitching crew has only allowed 1.6 runs per game this season, so the Saints' hitters will have their work cut out for them. As for Bellevue, they will head out on the road to square off against Highline at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. The Pirates have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 8.67 runs per game on average), something the Wolverines will no doubt try to take advantage of.
