The St. Paul's Prep Lions had to endure a six-game losing streak, but that streak is no more. They took down Heritage Christian Academy 42-27 on Monday. The win was just what St. Paul's Prep needed coming off of a 68-31 defeat in their prior contest.
Rowen Hughes was her usual excellent self, dropping a double-double on 20 points and 11 rebounds. That makes it four consecutive games in which she has scored at least a third of St. Paul's Prep's points. Another player making a difference was Venessa Alvarez, who scored seven points along with ten rebounds and eight steals.
Heritage Christian Academy's defeat came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Addison Klock, who scored 11 points along with two steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Addelynn Reid, who dropped a double-double on ten points and ten rebounds.
St. Paul's Prep's win ended a three-game drought at home and bumped them up to 5-9. As for Heritage Christian Academy, they now have a losing record at 6-7.
St. Paul's Prep will head out on the road to face off against the Lions at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday. As for Heritage Christian Academy, they will be playing at home against the Lions at 5:00 p.m. Hopefully St. Paul's Prep focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up ten on Monday.
