The Perry Meridian Falcons will challenge the Roncalli Royals at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Perry Meridian's pitching crew has only allowed 3.9 runs per game this season, so Roncalli's hitters will have their work cut out for them.
Having struggled with three losses in a row, Perry Meridian turned things around against Plainfield on Wednesday. They skirted past the Quakers 3-2. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win the Falcons have posted since April 9th.
Isaac Gadient looked comfortable as he didn't allow a single earned run over four innings pitched. He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than two walks in four consecutive appearances.
Meanwhile, Roncalli had already won four in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 8 runs) and they went ahead and made it five on Monday. They put the hurt on the Orioles with a sharp 15-4 victory. 15 seems to be a good number for the Royals as the squad scooped up a win with the same number of runs in their previous game.
Jaiden Kuria looked comfortable as he struck out six batters over four innings while giving up just one earned (and two unearned) runs off three hits.
On the hitting side, Collin Ash was incredible, going 2-for-3 with two stolen bases, four RBI, and two runs. The team also got some help courtesy of Will Manship, who went 2-for-3 with three RBI, one stolen base, and one run.
Roncalli always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .545. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Avon only posted an OBP of .304.
Roncalli's victory was their ninth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 15-3. The home wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 9.9 runs over those games. As for Perry Meridian, their record is now 6-10.
The pitchers for both teams better look sharp on Friday as neither team is afraid to steal. Perry Meridian has been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 3.3 stolen bases per game. However, it's not like Roncalli struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 4.1 stolen bases. The only question left is which team can snag more.
