Monroeville made up a huge gap compared to their last game against St. Joseph Central Catholic, but they still couldn't quite topple them. The Eagles' pitchers stepped up to hand the Crimson Streaks a 10-0 shutout on Thursday. Considering the Eagles have won four matchups by more than six runs this season, Thursday's blowout was nothing new.

Colt Clark made a splash no matter where he played. He didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit while striking out eight over four innings pitched. Clark was also solid in the batter's box, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 1-for-3. He has been hot recently, having posted at least one stolen base the last four times he's played.

In other batting news, Reid Wasserman and Hudson Bauer did most of the damage at the plate: Wasserman scored a run and stole a base while going 2-for-3, while Bauer scored two runs and stole two bases while getting on base in all three of his plate appearances. Another player making a difference was Ethan Smiley, who scored a run and stole a base while going 2-for-3.

Monroeville was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .429. They are a perfect 3-0 when they post a batting average of .375 or better.

Monroeville's win bumped their record up to 4-2. As for St. Joseph Central Catholic, they are on a six-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-5.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Monroeville will take on Crestline at 5:00 p.m. on Friday. The Bulldogs have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed eight runs per game on average), something the Eagles will no doubt try to take advantage of. As for St. Joseph Central Catholic, they will square off against Gibsonburg at 5:00 p.m. on Friday.
