Red Brooks made a big impact no matter where she played. She didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits over six innings pitched. She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than one walk in four consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, going a perfect 4-for-4 with one double and one RBI. Those four hits gave her a new career-high.
In other batting news, Sydney Lambert was excellent, going 2-for-3 with two runs and two RBI. That's the most runs she has posted since back in April. The team also got some help courtesy of Chloe Tycksen, who went 2-for-3 with one triple.
Mountain Ridge was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .520. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .357 or higher in four consecutive games.
Meanwhile, Westlake won against Farmington on Thursday with 14 runs and they decided to stick to that run total again on Friday. The Thunder blew past the Phoenix 14-2. The victory was familiar territory for the Thunder, who have now won three matchups in a row.
Brilynn Attebery was a major factor while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she tossed five innings while giving up just two earned runs off six hits. Attebery was even better at the plate, going a perfect 2-for-2 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Ryan Pead, who fired off two home runs, four runs, and two stolen bases while getting on base in all four of her plate appearances. She continues to improve, besting her previous run total in each of the last three games she's played. Lexi Hilton was another key player, going 2-for-3 with two runs and one triple.
Mountain Ridge pushed their record up to 22-4 with the win, which was their third straight at home. Those home victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.0 runs on average over those games. As for Westlake, their record is now 20-7.
Mountain Ridge beat Westlake 5-1 when the teams last played back in May of 2024. Do the Sentinels have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Thunder turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
