The Schuylerville Horses are taking a road trip to square off against the Amsterdam Rams at 4:30 p.m. on Monday.
Schuylerville is headed into the matchup having just suffered their biggest defeat since April 6th on Friday. They came up short against South Glens Falls, falling 7-1. The loss continues a trend for the Horses in their meetings with the Bulldogs: they've now lost five in a row.
Schuylerville saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Jackson Dunbar, who went 1-for-3 with one RBI.
Meanwhile, Amsterdam won against Gloversville on Wednesday with 13 runs and they decided to stick to that run total again on Friday. The Rams were the clear victors by a 13-0 margin over the Huskies. The Rams haven't had any issues with the Huskies recently, as the game was their fourth consecutive victory against them.
Ryan Wheeler and John Miller made a splash no matter where they played. On the mound, Wheeler pitched one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. Meanwhile, Miller didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits while striking out 12 over five innings pitched. Those 12 strikeouts gave him a new career-high. At the plate, Wheeler got on base in two of his four plate appearances with two runs, while Miller got on base in three of his five plate appearances with three runs, three RBI, and one double. That double was Miller's first of the season.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Logan Miller, who went 3-for-4 with three RBI, two doubles, and one stolen base. He is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as he's now snagged at least one in each of the last three games he's played. Chase Resila was another key player, getting on base in three of his four plate appearances with three runs and one double.
Amsterdam always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .548. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their OBP total in four consecutive games.
The win was their first on the road, bumping their record up to 4-7. As for Schuylerville, they now have a losing record of 5-6.
Schuylerville skirted past Amsterdam 4-2 in their previous meeting back in April of 2025. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Horses since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
