El Capitan/Centennial Academy have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won five matches by 29 points or more this season. They took their contest at home on Saturday with ease, bagging a 67-25 win over Basis. The win was familiar territory for El Capitan/Centennial Academy who now have three in a row.
Ethan Hammon continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines, dropping a double-double on 27 points and ten rebounds. That makes it three consecutive games in which he has scored at least 25% of El Capitan/Centennial Academy's points. Denim White was another key contributor, scoring 14 points along with five steals.
Daniel Quiroz and Macabe Wood certainly did their best on Saturday to try and avoid the loss. Quiroz scored eight points along with five steals, while Wood scored four points along with eight rebounds. That's the first time this season that Wood pulled down eight or more rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Iori Cruz, who scored three points along with three steals.
Basis struggled to work together and finished the game with only two assists. That's the fewest assists they've managed all season.
El Capitan/Centennial Academy's win was their 13th straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 10-4. Those good results were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 62.8 points per game. As for Basis, their loss ended a four-game streak of away wins and brought them to 7-2.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. El Capitan/Centennial Academy will have some time to savor their victory since their next game is a little ways off: they'll take on Bryce Valley at 4:30 p.m. on January 2, 2024. Basis will be home for the holidays to greet Music Mountain at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Music Mountain is coming into the matchup on a three-game losing streak.
