The La Jolla Vikings had already won three in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 11.3 points), and they went ahead and made it four on Tuesday. They really took it to San Pasqual for the full four quarters, racking up a 67-34 win on the road. That 67-34 margin sets a new team best for La Jolla this season.
La Jolla was led to victory by Elijah Vaz and Michael Contreras. Vaz scored 16 points along with five assists and three steals, while Contreras scored 29 points along with seven rebounds and four steals. That makes it nine consecutive games in which Contreras has scored at least 25% of La Jolla's points. Brody Sessa was another key contributor, scoring seven points.
Despite the loss, San Pasqual still got an impressive performance from Jonathan Lopez, who scored ten points. The match was Lopez's fourth in a row with at least ten points.
La Jolla's win ended a ten-game drought on the road dating back to last season and puts them at 6-3. As for San Pasqual, their loss dropped their record down to 1-3.
La Jolla will head out on the road to face off against Mission Bay at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Mission Bay knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with flashy point totals in its past three matches -- so hopefully La Jolla likes a good challenge. As for San Pasqual, they have the luxury of staying home another game and will welcome Canyon Crest Academy at 7:00 p.m. on December 8th. Canyon Crest Academy is strutting with some offensive muscle, as they've averaged 51.4 points per game.
