The Bernards Mountaineers put another one in the bag on Friday to keep their perfect season alive. They blew past Ramsey 46-13 at home. The result was nothing new for Bernards, who have now won nine matches by 24 points or more so far this season.
Bernards was led to victory by Jack Morra and Connor Laverty. Morra picked up 134 receiving yards and three touchdowns, while Laverty threw for 264 yards and three touchdowns while completing 92.9% of his passes. Jake Caldwell also helped out with an impressive 106 receiving yards.
Despite the loss, Ramsey still got an impressive performance from Aidan Sweeney, who rushed for 44 yards and a touchdown, and also threw for 121 yards and a touchdown.
Bernards' win was their eighth straight at home (dating back to last season), bumping their overall record up to 10-0. That said, the team wasn't facing the toughest opposition over that stretch, as it included 0-9 South River and 1-9 North Plainfield (their opponents had an average overall winning percentage of 34.8% over those games). As for Ramsey, they have been struggling recently, as they've lost three of their last four games, which put a noticeable dent in their 3-6 record this season.
Bernards will be playing in front of their home fans against Sussex County Tech at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Ramsey does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
