Basketball Recap: Perry Takes a Loss

Perry lost against Prairie City-Monroe back in January, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Tuesday. The Perry Bluejays were beaten by the Prairie City-Monroe Mustangs 55-27. While losing is never fun, the Bluejays can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Iowa basketball rankings (they are ranked 76th, while the Mustangs are ranked seventh).

Despite the defeat, Perry saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Lily Myers dropped a double-double on 13 points and 16 boards. Myers is on a roll when it comes to boards, as she's now pulled down eight or more in the last nine games she's played dating back to last season.

This is the second loss in a row for Perry and nudges their season record down to 3-2. As for Prairie City-Monroe, they pushed their record up to 6-0 with the win, which was their fourth straight on the road.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Perry will hit the road for the first time this season to challenge Roland-Story at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Prairie City-Monroe, they will venture away from home to face off against Jefferson-Scranton at 6:00 p.m. on Friday.
