The Mt. Pulaski Hilltoppers pushed their score all the way to 56 on Tuesday, but even that wasn't enough to win. They had to suffer through a rough 89-56 loss at the hands of Calvary. While losing is never fun, Mt. Pulaski can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Illinois basketball rankings (they are ranked 577th, while Calvary is ranked 223rd).
Leading Calvary to victory were Connor Brown and Luke Blackford. Brown almost dropped a double-double on 22 points and nine assists, while Blackford almost dropped a double-double on 42 points and nine rebounds. That makes it four consecutive games in which Blackford has scored at least a third of Calvary's points. Antione Hunter was another key contributor, scoring eight points.
Mt. Pulaski's loss dropped their record down to 11-17. As for Calvary, the win makes it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 19-8.
Mt. Pulaski will head out on the road to challenge Midwest Central at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Mt. Pulaski is facing Midwest Central at the right time seeing as Midwest Central is stuck on a nine-game losing streak. As for Calvary, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Lincolnwood at 7:15 p.m. on Friday.
