The Bruce Trojans's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Thursday after their eighth straight loss. They fell 69-60 to North Pontotoc. Bruce was given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Vikings apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in February of 2023.
Bruce's defeat came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Ashton Pierce, who dropped a double-double on 19 points and ten rebounds. Pierce has been hot recently, having posted eight or more rebounds the last three times he's played. Jay Cole Williams was another key contributor, scoring 15 points along with six rebounds and five assists.
Bruce's defeat was their fourth straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 4-16. That rough patch can't be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 54.3 points per game. As for North Pontotoc, their victory ended a three-game drought at home and bumped them up to 9-18.
Bruce does not have any more games scheduled as of now. North Pontotoc also has no future games currently scheduled.
