The McClatchy Lions's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Friday after their tenth straight loss. They took a serious blow against Burbank, falling 70-31. The result shouldn't come as a shock considering that's the fewest points McClatchy has scored all season.
McClatchy's defeat came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Vincent Seyford, who scored ten points. Kendall Andrews was another key contributor, scoring six points along with six rebounds.
Leading Burbank to victory were Michael Butcher and Markus Butcher. Butcher scored 17 points along with four steals, while Butcher scored 14 points along with six rebounds and five assists. Butcher is on a roll when it comes to steals, as he's now grabbed four or more in the last three games he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Julian James-Jardines, who scored 12 points along with five rebounds.
McClatchy has not been sharp recently as the team's lost 11 of their last 12 games, which put a noticeable dent in their 6-19 record this season. As for Burbank, they have been performing well recently as they've won nine of their last 11 matches, which provided a nice bump to their 18-7 record this season.
McClatchy will head out on the road to challenge the Cougars at 7:30 p.m. on Monday. Hopefully Kennedy focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 16 on Friday. As for Burbank, they will look to defend their home court on Monday against the Pacers at 7:30 p.m. One thing working in Grant's favor is that they have posted big point totals in their last 17 games.
