Simla has gone a perfect 4-0 against Elbert recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Saturday. The Cubs will take on the Bulldogs at 7:00 p.m. Simla has given up an average of 30.1 points per game this season, but Saturday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.
Simla will roll into the game after a wild two-game stretch: they only put up six points last Saturday, then bounced right back against St. Mary's on Friday. The Cubs strolled past the Pirates with points to spare, taking the game 54-38. That 16 point margin sets a new team best for the Cubs this season.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Simla to victory, but perhaps none more so than Evan Guy, who threw for 296 yards and four touchdowns on only 19 passes, and also rushed for 56 yards and a pair of TDs. The dominant performance also gave Guy a new career-high in passer rating (124.5). Ethan Kissam was another key back, gaining 279 total yards and two touchdowns.
They were just one part of a punishing run game: Simla was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 280 rushing yards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now rushed for at least 154 rushing yards in three consecutive matchups.
Another reason for the win was Simla's imposing defensive line, which managed to get into the backfield for four sacks. Nathaniel Cauthon was especially locked on to St. Mary's QB and sacked him twice. Cauthon has been hot recently, having also posted seven or more total tackles the last four times he's played.
Meanwhile, after a string of five wins, Elbert's good fortune finally ran out on Friday. They fell 36-24 to Byers. While Elbert had to settle for second, they closed the game well in the third quarter, where they outscored Byers 12-8.
Elbert's defeat was their first in the league, dropping their league record down to 3-1 and their overall record down to 6-2. As for Simla, they now have a winning record of 4-3.
Everything came up roses for Simla against Elbert when the teams last played back in October of 2024, as the squad secured a 54-6 victory. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Cubs since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
