West Central is 1-9 against Tri-County since April of 2019 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Tuesday. The Trojans will be playing in front of their home fans against the Cavaliers at 5:30 p.m. West Central is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 7.1 runs per game this season.
On Thursday, West Central made easy work of South Newton and carried off a 13-4 victory. The win continues a trend for the Trojans in their matchups with the Rebels: they've now won seven in a row.

Connor Huber and Tate Leman made a big impact no matter where they played. On the mound, Huber pitched 2.1 innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. Meanwhile, Leman tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. Huber has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than one hit in three consecutive appearances. At the plate, Huber got on base in two of his five plate appearances with three stolen bases and four runs, while Leman went 2-for-5 with three RBI and one run. Huber is becoming a predictor of West Central's success: when he posts at least two runs the team is undefeated (and 1-3 when he doesn't).
In other batting news, Zane Wall was incredible, going 2-for-5 with one home run, one stolen base, and two RBI. That home run marked the first that he has launched this season. Another player making a difference was Landon Hughes, who got on base in three of his four plate appearances with two runs and one stolen base.
Meanwhile, Tri-County entered their tilt with Clinton Prairie on Friday with two consecutive wins, and they'll enter their next game with three. They came within a single run of losing the streak, but they secured a 3-2 W against the Gophers. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory the Cavaliers have posted against the Gophers since April 8, 2017.
Tri-County saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Rhys Barton, who went a perfect 1-for-1 with one run.
Tri-County's win bumped their record up to 3-1. As for West Central, they now have a winning record of 4-3.
The batters for both teams will have to hit smart on Tuesday as both have some strikeout artists on the roster. West Central has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 10.3 strikeouts per game. However, it's not like Tri-County struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 9 strikeouts. Considering how easily both teams rack up Ks, the hitters on both teams better bring their A-game into this one.
West Central came out on top in a nail-biter against Tri-County in their previous matchup back in April of 2024, sneaking past 3-1. Do the Trojans have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Cavaliers turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
