If The Christian Brothers Falcons were feeling good off their 49-0 takedown of the El Camino Eagles last Friday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. Christian Brothers took a 35-28 hit to the loss column at the hands of Vista del Lago on Friday. While losing is never fun, Christian Brothers can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' California football rankings (they are ranked 285th, while Vista del Lago is ranked 117th).
Despite the defeat, Christian Brothers saw an underclassman step up: Jay Cummings rushed for 128 yards and two touchdowns. Cummings hasn't dropped below 100 rushing yards for four straight games. The team also got some help courtesy of Deakon Holden, who threw for 153 yards and two touchdowns.
It was another big night for Johnny Koett, who threw for 326 yards and four touchdowns while picking up 10.9 yards per attempt. Another player making a difference was Matt Long, who picked up 119 receiving yards and a touchdown.
Vista del Lago's defense stepped up as well, laying out the QB four times. Christian Brothers' QB won't forget Max Vota anytime soon given Vota sacked him four times.
Christian Brothers' loss dropped their record down to 6-4. As for Vista del Lago, the victory (which was their ninth in a row) raised their record to 9-1.
Christian Brothers' homestand continues as they prepare to take on Yuba City at 7:00 p.m. on November 3rd. Yuba City is hoping to put an end to a four-game streak of away losses. Vista del Lago does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
