The Riverside Pirates scored the most points they've had all season to find success on Saturday. They strolled past Troy Christian with points to spare, taking the game 59-42. For Riverside, this counts as revenge for the 48-40 loss Troy Christian walked away with the last time they faced one another back in December of 2023.
Riverside was led to victory by Emma Saylor and Reaghan Mcdaniel. Saylor dropped a double-double on 15 points and 13 rebounds, while Mcdaniel scored 17 points. That's the first time this season that Mcdaniel scored 15 or more points. The team also got some help courtesy of Avery Perk, who scored eight points along with eight rebounds and five assists.
Despite the loss, Troy Christian saw an underclassman step up: Riley Orange scored 17 points. Orange's trending in the right direction, as she's improved his point production for three games straight. Elisabeth Waltz was another key contributor, scoring two points along with five rebounds.
Riverside's victory ended a four-game drought at home and bumped them up to 6-10. As for Troy Christian, they have not been sharp recently, as they've lost three of their last four contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 6-8 record this season.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Riverside will take on Lehman Catholic at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are ranked near one another in Ohio (Lehman Catholic is ranked 550th, while Riverside is ranked 555th). As for Troy Christian, they will look to defend their home court on Thursday against Miami East at 7:30 p.m.
