Dougherty's and Hapeville Charter's contest on Saturday was close at halftime, but Dougherty turned on the heat in the second half with 42 points. Dougherty blew past Hapeville Charter 66-38 at home. Given Dougherty's advantage in MaxPreps' Georgia basketball rankings (they are ranked 62nd, while Hapeville Charter is ranked 318th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Kaleke Singletary-Jinks was his usual excellent self, scoring 18 points along with three steals. The match was Singletary-Jinks' third in a row with at least ten points. Another player making a difference was Jawuan Jinks jr, who scored 11 points along with three steals.
Meanwhile, Calhoun County put another one in the bag on Saturday to keep their perfect season alive. They walked away with a 71-59 victory over Mitchell County. Despite the win, that was the fewest points Calhoun County has scored all year.
Dougherty pushed their record up to 6-2 with that victory, which was their third straight at home. They've been dominating during the matches in that stretch too, as they've won by an average of 24.33 points. As for Calhoun County, their win bumped their record up to 5-0.
Dougherty couldn't quite finish off Calhoun County in their previous meeting back in December of 2022 and fell 69-67. Can Dougherty avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
