After flying high against the Blue Ridge Yellow Jackets on Friday, the Williams Field Black Hawks came back down to earth. Williams Field fell just short of Alchesay by a score of 52-50. Williams Field lost against Alchesay in their previous head to head back in December of 2022, too, but the margin this time around was much wider than the 60-40 score last time.
When it comes to explaining why Williams Field lost on Saturday, one person who can't be blamed is Latoya Brooks. Despite the final result, she scored nine points along with nine rebounds and four steals. Brooks is on a roll when it comes to rebounds, as she's now pulled down eight or more in the last three games she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Sophia Carnes, who scored 17 points.
Williams Field's loss dropped their record down to 8-6. As for Alchesay, their win ended a three-game drought on the road and puts them at 10-4.
Williams Field will get a bit of extra time to process the loss as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on Canyon View at 7:00 p.m. on January 9th. Canyon View is on a five-game streak of home wins, Williams Field a three-game streak of away wins -- so someone will have to leave a streak behind on the court. Alchesay will take on Window Rock at 6:00 p.m. on Friday.
