After a 54-53 finish the last time they played, the Savannah Bluejackets and the Screven County Gamecocks decided to play a little more cautiously this time around. Savannah took a 13-2 hit to the loss column at the hands of Screven County on Saturday. The result shouldn't come as a shock considering that's the fewest points Savannah has scored all season.
Tania Bryant was Savannah's leading scorer, having posted two points.
Screven County was led to victory by Jaliah Roberts and Alailah Scott. Roberts almost dropped a double-double on 14 points and nine rebounds, while Scott shot 4-for-8 from beyond the arc and dropped a double-double on 26 points and 11 rebounds. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Scott has scored all season. Olivia Jackson was another key contributor, scoring seven points along with five rebounds and four steals.
Savannah's defeat dropped their record down to 10-8. As for Screven County, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won six of their last seven matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 15-5 record this season.
Savannah will be playing in front of their home fans against Metter at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. One thing working in Metter's favor is that they have posted big point totals in their last 11 games. As for Screven County, they will head out on the road to challenge Woodville-Tompkins at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Hopefully Woodville-Tompkins focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up six on Friday.
