The Valley Mills Eagles will head out on the road to challenge the Italy Gladiators at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Given that both teams suffered a loss in their last game, they both have a little extra motivation heading into this match.
Last Friday, Valley Mills had to suffer through a rough 61-29 loss at the hands of the Bulldogs. Valley Mills was in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 34-14.
Meanwhile, Italy's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Friday after their third straight loss. The contest between them and Itasca wasn't particularly close, with Italy falling 46-27.
Italy's loss shouldn't obscure the performances of Hannah Scott, who scored seven points along with 16 rebounds, and Ta'nyria Fennel who scored six points along with six rebounds. Scott has been hot recently, having posted eight or more rebounds the last four times she's played. Another player making a difference was Landry Janek, who scored eight points along with six rebounds and two steals.
Valley Mills has not been sharp recently as the team's lost three of their last four matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 14-14 record this season. As for Italy, they dropped their record down to 10-17 with that defeat, which was their fourth straight on the road.
Valley Mills was able to grind out a solid win over the Gladiators in their previous matchup back in January, winning 32-20. The rematch might be a little tougher for Valley Mills since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
