The Fort Yukon Eagles put another one in the bag on Saturday to keep their perfect season alive. They simply couldn't be stopped as they easily beat Walter Northway 71-33 at home. Fans of Fort Yukon have seen this all before: every one of the games they've played this season ended as a blowout.
Fort Yukon found their leader in underclassman Jane Ward, who scored 23 points. That's the first time this season that Ward scored 15 or more points. Nellie Ward was another key contributor, scoring 13 points.
Fort Yukon pushed their record up to 4-0 with that win, which was their third straight at home. Those good results were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 76.0 points per game. As for Walter Northway, they now have a losing record at 1-2.
Fort Yukon does not have any more games scheduled as of now. Walter Northway will head out on the road to face off against Susitna Valley at 5:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Susitna Valley is coming into the matchup hot, having won their last three games.
