This season hasn't been kind to the Calumet New Tech Warriors, who are still winless after their 13th game. They were dealt a 68-29 loss at the hands of Illiana Christian on Tuesday. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest loss Calumet New Tech has suffered since November 25, 2023.
Illiana Christian got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Abbie Ritzema out in front who dropped a double-double on 17 points and ten rebounds. Ritzema has been hot recently, having posted two or more steals the last 15 times she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Avery Olthof, who scored 13 points along with five rebounds and four steals.
Calumet New Tech bumped their record down to 0-13 with that defeat, which was their 11th straight at home dating back to last season. That rough patch could be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they only averaged 20.8 points per game. As for Illiana Christian, the victory (which was their fifth in a row) raised their record to 10-8.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Calumet New Tech will take on Lighthouse College Prep Academy at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are ranked near one another in Indiana (Lighthouse College Prep Academy is ranked 405th, while Calumet New Tech is ranked 410th). As for Illiana Christian, they will be playing at home against Kouts at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
