Champaign Central is 1-9 against the Chargers since January of 2019 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Tuesday. The Champaign Central Maroons will head out on the road to challenge the Centennial Chargers at 7:30 p.m. Champaign Central is no doubt hoping to put an end to a six-game streak of away losses.
Last Tuesday, Champaign Central ended up a good deal behind the Titans and lost 63-47. While losing is never fun, Champaign Central can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Illinois basketball rankings (they are ranked 220th, while the Titans are ranked 63rd).
Despite their loss, Champaign Central saw several players rise to the challenge and make noteworthy plays. Luke Swanson, who scored 11 points, was perhaps the best of all. The team also got some help courtesy of A.j. Tucker, who scored five points.
Meanwhile, Centennial didn't have too much trouble with the Greenwave at home on Tuesday as they won 65-46.
Champaign Central has been struggling recently as they've lost nine of their last 11 matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 10-15 record this season. As for Centennial, their victory bumped their record up to 15-9.
Champaign Central came up short against the Chargers in their previous matchup back in January, falling 61-52. Can Champaign Central avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
