Crimson Cliffs is 1-8 against Dixie since January of 2020 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Tuesday. The two teams will face off at 7:00 p.m. on December 19th without much rest after finishing up games yesterday. Hopefully Crimson Cliffs focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 23 on Saturday.
Last Saturday, Crimson Cliffs came up short against Viewmont and fell 48-37.
Even though the team lost, they still had their share of impressive performances. One of the most dominant came from Alyssa Whittaker, who scored 13 points along with six rebounds and three steals. Kenadee Richey was another key contributor, scoring 11 points along with three steals.
Meanwhile, Dixie faced Westlake in a battle between two of the state's top teams. Dixie ended up on the wrong side of a tough 60-34 walloping at the hands of Westlake on Wednesday. The result shouldn't come as a shock considering that's the fewest points Dixie has scored all season.
Despite the defeat, Dixie had strong showings from Kealah Faumuina, who scored 14 points along with six rebounds, and Hali Smith, who scored 12 points along with five rebounds and three steals. The matchup was Faumuina's eighth in a row with at least ten points.
Dixie struggled to get the ball back on offense and finished the game with only three offensive rebounds. They were crushed by their opponents in that department as Westlake pulled down 13 offensive rebounds.
Crimson Cliffs' defeat dropped their record down to 3-6. As for Dixie, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 4-4.
Tuesday's match is shaping up to be a scrappy contest: Crimson Cliffs have been smashing the glass this season, having only averaged 29.3 rebounds per game. It's a different story for Dixie, though, as they've been averaging only 30.6 rebounds per game. Given Crimson Cliffs' sizeable advantage in that area, Dixie will need to find a way to close that gap.
Crimson Cliffs suffered a grim 49-27 defeat to Dixie in their previous meeting back in February. Can Crimson Cliffs avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
