Steven Curtis ran for two touchdowns and
Nathan Roseberry added two as well as
Purvis (Miss.) beat South Pike (Magnolia, Miss.) 42-7 on Saturday.
After taking the lead on a touchdown run by Curtis in the first quarter, the Tornadoes were up 28-0 at the half.
Purvis grew its lead to 35 points entering the fourth quarter. PHS scored once in the quarter on a touchdown pass by
Markell Pack to
Wesley Thompson.
South Pike's lone touchdown came on a 43-yard run in the fourth quarter.
The Tornadoes came in allowing an average of 21.1 points per game this season. A defensively strong Purvis kept the Eagles well below the 20.0 points it had been averaging per game.
The win brought Purvis' winning streak to three games.
In a 4A Region 7 game next week Purvis (7-2) takes on Lawrence County, and South Pike (1-8) will go up against North Pike also in a 4A Region 7 game.
